Hawaiian Quilting
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaiian_quilt
This is the technique that inspired my process for the text.
Opus 2 text detail
Here's some detail showing the process for doing the Greek text. The technique is reverse applique - based loosely on a Hawaiian quilting technique:1) The red fabric is placed behind the lighter fabric
2) For this project, I printed out the text as a pattern
3) I stitched the paper and the two layers together by machine
4) I tore away the paper patterns
5) Stitched the edges of each letter with a blind hand stitch
The Greek passage says : "All scripture is God-breathed, and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in rightousness"

Here's some detail of my FIRST FINISHED QUILT. I have several quilt tops ready to be layered, quilted and bound....but this was the first one I've done start to finish.
I offerred it on E-bay but so far no buyers. Looking to sell it to a caring owner for $100 plus shipping - let me know.
It is mostly 100% cotton repurposed fabrics (with some rayon/cotton blends) and 100% cotton batting.
Approximate dimensions 78" x 82"
